Flora
Cuc Phuong National Park is famous for its abundance of plants and trees. Over 2000 species of plants have been discovered, with notably giant individuals including the 1000 years old tree and the ancient tree, whose buttress roots have grown like a great wall in the middle of the forest. There are also strangler figs that germinate upon other trees, choking their hosts as they grow up into the canopy.
Vines at Cuc Phuong take on many forms, some growing python-like to reach a hundred meters in length and stretching across the layers of the forest.
The ancient trees, strangler figs, vines, and other flora all come together to create a wild, mysterious, and impressive tropical rain forest landscape.
The scientists of Cuc Phuong National Park have also discovered 12 additional species of trees, including a very rare species of orchid (Vietorchis aurea Aver. & Averyanova). This species only occurs within a narrow area at Cuc Phuong National Park.
